Our practice is rooted in the compassionate teachings of Venerable Thich Nhat Hanh and traditions of Plum Village. We are committed to nurturing peace and wellbeing in ourselves, our community, and the diverse natural ecology of our Mother Earth, for they are not separate. Fifteen years ago, the Prairie Oaks Sangha began as a small group of three people, gathering for mindfulness meditation in the beautiful setting of Prairie Oaks Reserve. Over the years, we have grown and evolved, and we now offer weekly online meditation, monthly in-person meditation, and seasonal Days of Mindfulness. All are welcome!
Please arrive 5-10 minutes early to get settled. Opening & welcome; 20 minutes sitting; 5 minute walking; shorter sitting; Dharma reading/talk; dharma sharing; 5 minute closing

Grief Ritual
Attendees will experience a grieving ritual followed by a sound bath. A grieving ritual is a symbolic act where we are able to express our grief through mindful actions. Grieving comes in many different forms. This could be related to personal losses, concerns for loved ones’ well-being, environmental concerns, etc.

Cultivating Mindfulness at the Figge Art Museum
Join us to cultivate mindfulness through art, qigong, meditation, and sound healing in the Figge galleries. Practitioners will be guided to explore ways to meditate by being open, relaxed, and receptive. This event will be guided by Becky Nakashima Brooke who is a yoga teacher, qigong teacher, and sound healer. All are welcome. No experience necessary.

End of Life Doulas

Learn about end-of-life doulas, also known as EOLDs. These dedicated professionals offer comprehensive, non-medical assistance and solace to individuals who are either preparing for or currently undergoing their end-of-life journey. EOLDs provide a wide range of services, including education, emotional and social support, spiritual guidance, logistical and practical aid, and continued assistance both prior to and following the passing. End-of-life doulas play a crucial role in augmenting and enhancing the care provided by family members and other caregivers, including hospice providers.
